For nurses in Louisiana, continuing education is a licence condition; for aides and facility caregivers, healthcare-provider-level CPR is part of the role. Here is what the rules expect for your role, and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

Nurses in Louisiana are licensed and overseen by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, which requires 30 board-approved contact hours every two years, or a minimum of 900 practice hours verified by the employer. Activities must be relevant to nursing practice.
Under the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act and the Board's standards, a nurse must maintain competence and be able to act in an emergency. Basic life support (BLS) is, in practice, an employer and hospital requirement rather than a licence condition — a credential most clinical roles must hold and keep valid.
Louisiana requires 30 board-approved contact hours every two years (or 900 employer-verified practice hours). Because the Board accepts CE from approved providers, ACLS or PALS recertification courses through such providers typically award 4-8 contact hours that count toward the requirement; a plain BLS provider card is not itself CE.

The role calls for a valid first-aid and CPR certificate in addition to occupational training: a recognized standalone certificate meets that requirement and must be renewed to stay current.
